Roseanne Barr on Tuesday attacked former President Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarett in a since deleted tweet alleging connections to the Muslim Brotherhood that is being called racist by many.

In the tweet, the ABC star of her self-titled show attacked Jarett, connecting her to the Islamist organization Muslim Brotherhood and the movie Planet of the Apes. “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote, using Jarrett’s initials while replying to a tweet which accused Jarrett of helping to cover up alleged misdeeds for the Obama administration.

When users pointed out that the tweet seemed racist, Barr replied, “Muslims r NOT a race.” Barr, an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, later tweeted her first tweet was “a joke.” Then, not long after that tweet, Barr issued an apology post: “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

ABC has canceled “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr’s racially charged tweet about Valerie Jarrett Monday morning.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement to TheWrap on Tuesday.

“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr said earlier on Tuesday in response to a Twitter thread about Jarrett, a former adviser to Barack Obama.

Barr apologized before ABC’s statement on Tuesday, saying that her statement suggesting that former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes” was a “joke” that was “in bad taste.

“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks,” Barr said. “I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

The “Roseanne” star’s tweet caused swift backlash on Twitter, and consulting producer Wanda Sykes said she would not be returning to the sitcom on Tuesday morning. Executive producer and co-star Sara Gilbert said that Barr’s comments are “abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show.”

Gilbert added that news of the cancelation is “incredibly sad and difficult.”

“This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love– one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member,” she said.

Anita’s Opinion:

If we just had an ounce of control to be able to refrain from acting out evil gestures, making racist slurs or dwelling on the past. We would be a much better people. All to often it appears that we as Americans have no integrity or decency. We have a leader of the free world who shows no self control, and I am not going to lie to you all. Everybody thought when a black man entered the White House it was going to be total mayhem. Be true to thy own self. You probably thought to yourselves “Oh God”. But you have to admit, President Obama carried himself in a very dignified manner. Come on, be truthful.

My point is this, Trump is our President, but some of the things he says, leaves you shaking your head. This is President Trump’s time to shine as never before, and do those things he has spoken about, as far as making this country great. Be the light he says he is, that is appointed by God. That I was even beat up on Facebook for. Are you going to brow beat us, or are you going to show us by your positive actions? Or maybe you think the best way to do it, is by, calling people animals, Apes, and telling us we don’t belong here.

This land rightfully belong to Native Americans, or did man forget what really happened?

How could Christopher Columbus discover a land that belong to other people? Why does your jaded mind give him credit?

It’s okay if you hate the color of my skin, it’s okay that you think I look like a Ape, all of these things are okay. But in order to get respect, you must first earn it. You cannot or will not beat it out of me.

What does making America great again entail?

Does this mean throwing black folks in chains and putting us on boats to take us to Africa? Does it mean sending each of us from different origins to the land you think we should be at?

I thought one of the things that made America great was the one big melting pot?

Or is it best to kill us like dogs on the city streets of our local cities, in which we were born, and lie saying you thought we had a gun?

You never have to back pedal on a previous comment you’ve made, if by some chance you could control your actions.

Nothing is worse than a person who back pedals. Or wants us to believe that it was a fraudulent slip.

Did ABC do the right thing, cancelling the show? Well unfortunate for the other cast members, I am glad ABC made this particular decision. We must send a message to all who think that it is even remotely okay to display senseless acts of cruelty with racist tirades.

Roseanne Barr didn’t think about anyone but herself when making those comments, and apparently money wasn’t an issue for her.

With age I guess maturity doesn’t come?

Roseanne Barr Sings National Anthem: Just in case you forgot about the National Anthem she sang, representing this great country. With a little scratching and spitting. She wanted us to know she wasn’t a singer, and we know this. But the scratching and spitting? Very disrespectful, and I know she is a comedian, but self control over one’s actions and words go a long ways.

Final Notes: You would have to be a complete idiot, to shoot your own self in the foot.
