The Body Is A Temple
The Word of God is our standard and not the way the society wants us to think or act. Whatever you seek, is found in the bible no matter how trivial you think it is. God is interested in your life more than you think. He doesn’t joke with our body be; that is His temple. The consciousness of the indwelling of the spirit, will make us steer our steps to the right part God has chosen for us.
Your body, God’s temple
God values our bodies to the extent that He made it His temple! How wonderful to note that you are not an ordinary being. There is a big God dwelling inside of you.
1 Corinthians 6:19-29 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Whatever we do with our bodies either honor God or dishonor Him; for instance, how would you feel if someone is destroying your home? That is the same way the Holy Spirit feels when we do what displeases Him. Often times, we go against God’s will as Christians without thinking of what the owner of the temple will do.
The more conscious we are of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the less likely we fall into temptation.
Can you give what you don’t have? The sincere answer to this question will stop you from making some terrible decisions in life. Can you give the temple of God to someone who will desecrate it? No, because even if you would like to do it, it is not yours in the first place to give! Friend, I need you to understand this; until you understand that your body is not yours but God’s, you will keep giving in to temptation.
Psalms100:3 “Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.”
Does this mean God is a tyrant? No, He is not. He gave us the freedom of choice; no tyrant will give you an ounce of freedom. Even though God’s own us, He still gave us the choices to choose Him or not. Deuteronomy 30:15-16 15
“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.”
From verse 15 down to 20 shows the choices before us; it is left for us to choose the right path.
Is the temple Clean?
I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We sometimes allow the norms of the society to determine our moral code, but it is wrong. The Word of God is there to guide us, to show us what is right and wrong. It is not too late to clean the clean the temple; ask from the Holy Spirit to purge everything that is not right out of the temple of God. God is righteous, He cannot dwell in a filthy environment; however, He is always ready to help clean the temple. All you need to do is to ask Him, and He will help you. He said it in Matthew 7:7 so, go ahead and ask.
