What does it mean to Rest in God’s Love?
Matthew 11 vs. 28-9
28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
The best thing that can ever happen to a man is salvation; salvation is the most precious gift for anyone to have. Here’s the beautiful part, this gift is available to all who would just come to Christ.
If salvation is the most significant thing, why do some Christians still do not have the joy of salvation? Why the heaviness, and guilt?
There are some people who after accepting God’s gift to humanity- His son Jesus Christ still feel guilty of their past mistakes. Until you learn to rest in God’s love, the devil will keep stealing your joy.
The devil is cunning and a thief; he knows you can’t fully enjoy your redemptive power in Christ until you are joyful, so he keeps making you think about your “awful” past thereby stealing your joy.
The Bible says in Isaiah 12:3 that with joy shall you draw water from the well of Salvation. Without joy, you cannot draw life, power, goodness, peace, etc. from the well of Salvation.
Here’s a secret, God does not have records for your past sins. Do not allow the devil to stop you from resting in God’s love. Jesus Christ is here to give you rest in all areas of your life only if you just come.
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
God knew from the beginning that you are not perfect; He wouldn’t have sent His only Son to rescue us from destruction. If we think we have not sin then we are lying; you cannot work out your salvation without the help of the Holy Spirit.
If you could handle righteousness alone, the Lord would not have sent the Holy Spirit to us. Friend, stop killing yourself over spilled milk. You have to rest in God’s love.
How do you rest in God’s love?
Make peace with God and yourself: the problem is not God, the problem is you. Jesus Christ has forgiven you; you just have to forgive yourself. Look the devil straight in the eye and say “God loves me, and that’s all that matters.”
You do not need the world’s approval; if God has received you and paid for your transgression then who can judge you? God has made the well available for you; you just have to draw; take action and enter into the realm of endless triumph.
Study the Word: Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” If you do not study the word of God, you will fall flat in your Christian race, but when you catch the Rhema (the Spirit of the word), no devil can molest you.
Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving attracts God’s presence; when you thank God for His finger, you will see His mighty hands. Whenever the devil reminds you of your past, simply say “Jesus I thank you, for saving me from destruction, I was once a sinner, but you saved me.
ENCOURAGE YOURSELF: Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for me.” A grateful heart will forever be joyful, and joy is what you need to draw water from the well of salvation.
