What The Bible Teaches About Wisdom

Wisdom is the principal thing.

Wisdom and knowledge is to different things. You are to know the differences the Holy Bible teaches. In the Book of Proverbs, chapter four, verses five through nine, we find these inspiring words: “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, (wisdom) and she shall promote thee: she shall bring to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head as ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” This awesome passage of Holy Scripture reveals to us the power of obtaining that life-transforming spiritual force, called wisdom.

Wisdom is not the same thing as knowledge, even though the two are very closely connected. Knowledge is the accumulation of truth. Understanding is the comprehension of truth. And wisdom is the application of truth. In other words, wisdom is the God-given ability to apply knowledge, to put what you know into positive action, and thereby, reap marvelous rewards and benefits.

There are many people who attend colleges and universities which never amount to much in life. I am not against education at all. In these days, it is important to apply yourself to learning. However, after gaining the knowledge, we must ask God for the wisdom of how to use it to the betterment of humanity and to bring increase and blessings to ourselves as well.

Wisdom covers every area of life. For instance, wisdom will show a man and his wife how to develop a strong bond and enjoy a loving, sweet and beautiful relationship for a lifetime. Impossible you say? Not at all. God’s wisdom can keep a marriage together, regardless of the storms of life which come to all of us. Get wisdom.

The wisdom of God will show us how live a morally descent life. It will reveal to us how to do what is right all the time, regardless of whether someone is watching or not. It will show us how to ensure that we stay out of trouble and how to avoid ungodly friendships and relationships, which may entice us to do evil. Wisdom is God’s answers to our questions. Wisdom is God’s solutions to our problems and difficulties. Wisdom is God’s insight concerning how we should handle every situation and circumstance which comes our way.

Well, where is wisdom found? According to the Book of Proverbs, Wisdom is found through constant feeding upon the Word of God, and application of the Word of God. In other words, read and study the Bible about whatever it is you are dealing with. And when you are sure you have understanding of the approach the Bible instructs you to do, act on that instruction.

Sometimes the answers God gives us in His Word, (the Bible) may seem unreal, may seem as if it is the wrong answer. But, believe me when I say from experience, my own as well as everyone else, God is never wrong. He has never been proven wrong and He never will be proven wrong. One of the greatest lessons I have had to learn was that God is smarter than I am. He has demonstrated this time and time again.

So, if you desire to walk in wisdom, make time everyday to read the Bible and see what it says about how to handle whatever you are going through. Then do what the Word instructs you to do. Give His Word to your friends and others who may be struggling with issues as well, and let them know that if they apply the Bible to their situation, things will be better.

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF: God’s Wisdom is His Word. So Get wisdom today.
